Mecon Limited works with many other small and medium-size
enterprises (SMEs) on its projects, as well as with academic
experts in universities in the UK and the US. Most, but not all, are in
the Cambridge area. Networking allows us to put together an
expert team quickly and efficiently. Because no individual
company has the overhead of maintaining a wide range of
expertise in-house full time, we are able to offer a very
cost-effective service compared many larger R&D organisations
and consultancies.
Mecon is a member of the following organisations:
The
UK Research Centre in Nondestructive Evaluation.
In April 2003 the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences
Research Council (EPSRC)
established a Research Centre in NDE to link university research
groups and industrial NDE users, and thereby create a
world-leading centre of excellence in NDE research. It combines
innovative technical excellence with industrial applicability,
with three overarching objectives:
Excellence in exploitable research, building on
current world-class research, developing new research themes
to meet industrial needs, maintaining technical breadth and
depth, developing overseas relationships, building a
critical mass team of interacting scientists and engineers.
Industrial benefit at low cost, directing research
at industry's problems, promoting technology transfer from
research to application, providing resource for problem
solving, by high leverage of public funds.
Raising quality of industrial NDE, training highly
educated engineer recruits and refreshing the industrial
skill base through exchange and networking.
The
Scottish Intermediate Technology Institute for Energy aims
to stimulate the growth of high-technology energy-related
enterprises in Scotland. Its members support it in framing new
projects and putting them into effect.
The
Cambridge Hi-tech Association of Small Enterprises is an
informal network with an IT and telecoms bias.
The
SMART club for the East of England is an association of
small companies that have won awards from the UK Government for
technology innovation.
The
Cambridge Network is an alliance of Companies seeking to
bring together venture capital and promising new technologies.
The
Cambridge Europe and Technology Club facilitates the
development of contacts with both users and providers of high
technology across Europe.
